ILOILO City – A 36-year-old barber was arrested in an entrapment operation in Barangay Bolilao, Mandurriao district for “sextortion” – a crime that occurs when someone threatens to distribute someone else’s private and sensitive material if the latter doesn’t do something of a sexual nature, sexual favors, or money.
On Tuesday, the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group 6 (CIDG-6) took custody of suspect Francisco Boteja of Barangay Pamuringaw, Cabatuan, Iloilo after the latter was entrapped at a motel with the complainant – his former lover.
According to the complainant – a 35-year-old married woman – the suspect threatened to circulate on social media their nude pictures and sex video she won’t give him P1 million and have sex with him.
The woman sought the help of CIDG-6 and an entrapment was hatched, said Major Jess Baylor of CIDG-6.
Boteja faces a string of charges – robbery extortion, grave threat and grave coercion.
“I’m appealing to people in situations similar to the complainant’s – contact us. The CIDG will help you,” Baylon said./PN
