ILOILO City – Parents in Western Visayas with incoming Kindergarten and Grades 1, 7, and 11 children for school year 2022-2023 are being urged to pre-register them before the April 30 deadline.

The pre-registration in public schools started on March 25.

There are 4,045 public schools in Western Visayas.

“Parents should go to the public school where they intend to enroll their children and fill up the modified basic education early registration enrollment form,” said Hernani Escullar Jr. regional information officer of the Department of Education (DepEd).

There are no cumbersome requirements. Parents only need to present their children’s birth certificate.

Why pre-register early? The last day of school year 2021-2022 is June 24 yet while graduation rites will start on June 27.

“So we would know how many modules, classrooms and other policy planning intervention to prepare,” explained Escullar.

He, however, clarified that those who could not get listed during the pre-registration will still be accepted during the regular enrolment.

He also said incoming Grades 2-6, 8-10, and 12 are considered pre-registered already.

DepEd is expected to release its calendar for the incoming school year sometime in May. (With a report from the Philippine News Agency/PN)
