JORDAN, Guimaras – The municipality of Nueva Valencia, Guimaras held a groundbreaking for the establishment of its 2,000-square meter municipal slaughterhouse funded under the Philippine Rural Development Project (PRDP).

The construction of the facility is expected to benefit at least 1,841 livestock raisers, 33 meat vendors, 21 resorts, and 75 eateries in the province.

Likewise, it aims to establish and operate an abattoir in the municipality with an improved, humane, and standard technique in the processing of safe and quality meat.

A pre-construction conference for the P36,977,813.93 slaughterhouse was also held. It discussed the fundamentals on the implementation of the subproject underlining the contract documents, PRDP’s processing of disbursement, billing guidelines and quality control, among others, to the project implementers and stakeholders.

The project duration is 403 calendar days, targeted to be accomplished on May 7, 2023.

Key officials who attended the recent groundbreaking were Mayor Emmanuel Galila, Vice Mayor Paul Vincent De la Cruz, Sangguniang Bayan member Felix Servando (Committee chair on Infrastructure), and Municipal Engineer Josephine Servando.

Also present were PRDP Project Support Office (PSO) Visayas team headed by its Deputy Project Director, Engineer Jose Albert Barrogo and concerned staff of the Department of Agriculture – Regional Project Coordination Office 6. (DA-6/PN)
