Lest we forget, Part 2

SO LET’S stop the wrong narrative of greatest achievements by a Philippine president, or the greatest president in Philippine history.

Let’s see the greatest crook for what he is — thief, and liar, and cover-up king (kahit pa ang asawa mostly ang may pakana ng mga coverups).

***

***

Nang nanalo ng Unang Gantimpala sa Palanca Awards ang aking dulang “The Passion of Jovita Fuentes,” love story nina National Artist for Music Jovita at childhood sweetheart n’yang si (President) Manuel Roxas na lolo ni Mar, mas lalo kong ginustong sumulat ng mga historical plays; or, at the very least, plays based on history.

***

Nagsulat ako ng mga dula tungkol kay Imelda (“If the Shoe Fits: Or, The Five Men Imelda Marcos Meets in Heaven”, na nanalo ng second prize sa 2011 Palanca Awards); at tungkol kay Cory (“Cory, Full of Grace”, published in 2012).

Well-researched ang mga plays ko, at maari silang gamitin as documents of our times.

***

You can go to hell. Basta ako, magpapakabanal!

***

We are what we are fighting for. We are what we believe.

But it does not mean that you are a good person. Maybe, you are just good at your job.

***

So yeah, it happens that I admire some people in the media, and in real life.

For some, I even respect what they do.

***

Nauunawaan ko rin that not everybody can be as principled, and financially independent as I am.

Or not as psycho-spiritually integrated, or even morally intelligent as I am.

All cards on the table na: I am sex positive, and liberated.

I am a certified bobo-shamer.

I am not bound by Philippine morals and hypocrisy.

I am not a traditionalist and conservative image of what people think is “educated” or “educator” or even “award-winning writer”.

But I am happy. I am rich. I am contented. I am successful. And again, I am happy.

Concerned sa status of education, miseducation, and misinformation in the 2020s, yes.

To educate. To warn people.

Kung ayaw n’yong makinig, kung ayaw n’yong magpaturo, welcome to your own hell on earth.

Maghirap sana kayo. Maghikahos. Mabaliw. (To be continued)/PN
