
ROXAS City – This city has not recorded new active cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) for two weeks now.
Data from the City Health Office (CHO) showed that from April7, the first day it announced the city no longer had an active case, there has been no new cases logged as of April 21.
In a Facebook post, Mayor Ronnie Dadivas expressed hope that this COVID-free situation would be sustained.
He appealed for the cooperation of everyone particularly in the observance of public health safety protocols (wearing of facemask, physical distancing and constant disinfection of hands.
Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, the CHO logged a total of 6,244 cases, 6,043 of which recovered while 201 died.
For the city to reach this far, Dadivas cited the dedication and sacrifices of frontliners such the health professionals.
“Aton iselebrar kag pasalamatan sang hugot ang aton mga frontliners nga nagsakripisyo agud kita maproteksyunan kag matatap ang mga nagabalatian, labi sa tanan sa aton Mahal nga Diyos nga nangin dalangpan naton sa mga tion nga wala sang kasiguruhan,” said Dadivas.
The city mayor, however, emphasized that there is still a need to be careful and follow the minimum health protocols, and not to be complacent until such time that the city and the whole country is declared COVID-freery./PN
