‘IT’S STILL TREÑAS’; Survey: Jerry leaves challenger ‘biting the dust’

"I feel very humbled. Grabe ang suporta kag pagsalig sang aton mga pumuluyod. Nakahibalo man sila nga sang tiempo sang pandemya, gintinguhaan ko gid ang tanan nga maobra ko para makabulig," says Mayor Jerry Treñas of Iloilo City.

ILOILO City – Mayor Jerry Treñas has taken a wide lead, leaving his challenger far behind in a recent pre-election survey, almost ensuring his re-election.

The survey results of Western Visayas’ most trusted and reliable survey firm, Random Access Consultants, Inc. (RACI),  showed Treñas with 80.8%  while his challenger was miles away biting the dust at a mere 18.8%.

The survey results mean that eight in every 10 voters are going to choose one of the country’s best local chief executives over the far second placer.

RACI, which has accurately predicted the results of the local elections for two decades now, employed its tested and proven formula surveying 600 respondents in 60 barangays using the multi-stage probability sampling method on April 23, 2022.

The survey has a plus/minus 4% margin of error and 95% level of confidence.

Humbled by the survey result, Treñas assured the Ilonggos he will continue to work hard for the sustained progress of the city.

“I feel very humbled. Grabe ang suporta kag pagsalig sang aton mga pumuluyod. Nakahibalo man sila nga sang tiempo sang pandemya, gintinguhaan ko gid ang tanan nga maobra ko para makabulig. Sige-sige gid ang aton gina-obra,” said Treñas.

The city mayor expressed gratitude to various sectors and personalities for their unwavering trust and confidence in his leadership.

Among these big personalities are Sen. Franklin Drilon and “King of Talk” Boy Abunda.

Recently, Treñas also got the backing of the Iglesia in Cristo.

“The endorsement of Iglesia ni Cristo is the most sought by candidates. I saw candidates from the opposing camp when we went to the minister to ask for their endorsement. I am very thankful for their endorsement and support,” said Treñas.

But acknowledging that surveys are not the end of the battle, the city mayor urged the public to continue supporting him and their Uswag Team.

Still, he said surveys inspire him to work harder.

“The people’s mandate is the only reason why I am offering myself in the service of the Ilonggos. With this survey, they did not disappoint in showing support and trust in me,” the city mayor said./PN
