BACOLOD City – Negros Occidental governor Eugenio Jose Lacson renewed his call to local government units (LGUs) to step up their vaccination efforts against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
According to Lacson, the number of vaccinated Negrenses, especially those belonging to the senior citizen category, is still low.
It is currently pointless for the provincial government to buy or acquire more COVID-19 vaccines as its cold storage facility is still packed with them, he added.
Data from the Department of Health (DOH) in Western Visayas showed that as of May 15, 134,859 of the 269,602 senior citizen population in Negros Occidental were fully vaccinated and another 19,474 have received their booster shots./PN
