BACOLOD City – The provincial government of Negros Occidental will return to the normal five-day workweek this June following two years of adopting a four-day workweek arrangement as part of efforts to combat the coronavirus pandemic, as well as to save on money following a massive oil price hike earlier this year.
Atty. Rayfrando Diaz, provincial administrator, said their Friday work-from-home arrangement will be halted effective June 1.
Resuming the five-day work week will normalize the provincial capitol’s workforce and expedite processes as the province and the rest of the country are currently facing difficulties such as the rising price of commodities.
“We have so much to address and we need everybody,” Diaz said.
He also revealed that the province is complying with the Commission on Audit Circular 2020-006 that requires local government units to conduct a one-time cleansing of their respective properties, plants and equipment owned by the government.
Diaz said they were given a three-month deadline, and won’t be able to meet it if they continue observing the four-day work week./PN
