KALIBO, Aklan – A law establishing the Land Transportation Office (LTO) District Office in the 2nd District of Aklan was signed into law to bring the service closer to the people.
President Rodrigo Duterte signed Republic Act 11748 for “Western Aklan LTO Center” in Barangay Colong-Colong, Ibajay, Aklan.
It sprung from House Bill (HB) 6664 filed on May 5, 2020 before the 18th Congress by Aklan 2nd District’s Cong. Teodorico Haresco, Jr.
Haresco said the new LTO District Office will address the increasing number of transactions per year in the province and will cater the municipalities in the 2nd District.
The province’s 2nd District is comprised of Malay, Buruanga, Ibajay, Nabas, Tangalan, Malinao, Lezo, Numancia, and Makato as well as Boracay Island.
“In addition, the creation of regular plantilla positions in LTO regular District Office will help raise the moral and productivity of the workforce, and make it more responsive to the needs of the 2nd District,” said Haresco.
There will also be procurement of adequate and modern equipment which shall help deliver the office’s services more efficiently, expediently and securely to the increasing number of registrants.
HB 6664 was approved on third and final reading on Jan. 20, 2021 by the House of Representatives./PN
