BACOLOD City – This city will soon have its own sports complex.

Mayor Monico Puentevella disclosed that the proposed location is at the back of the People’s House, formerly the New Government Center.

The first plan was to construct the Bacolod City Sports Complex on the lot between Bacolod City National High School and Bacolod City College in Brgy. Taculing here.

With the existing province-owned Panaad Park and Sports Stadium in Brgy. Mansilingan, building a new sports complex will enable Bacolod City to host more national and international sports competitions.

“It is also good for a city to have its own sports complex. It will strengthen the athletes’ competitiveness in various national and international competitions,” said Puentevella.

The Bacolod City Sports Complex will have a track oval, football field, tennis court, basketball court, volleyball court, and badminton court.

The construction, however, will depend on availability of funds, Puentevella added.

Puentevella announced his intent to bid for the Palarong Pambansa hosting in 2016.
