BACOLOD City – The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) has proposed a budget of P600 million to complete the Kabankalan City Airport in southern Negros Occidental.
CAAP will present its proposal before incoming Department of Transportation (DOTr) secretary Jaime Bautista for it to be included in the 2023 National Budget, according to Congresswoman-elect Mercedes Alvarez (6th District, Negros Occidental).
A representative from CAAP inspected the airport last week.
The proposed P600-million budget would be used to construct the necessary facilities to run the airport such as its apron, passenger terminal, and the emergency building that would house firefighting and rescue equipment.
Construction of the airport began on March 2007.
Once completed, it would be the second operational airport in Negros Occidental after the Bacolod-Silay Airport./PN
