Capiz COVID healthcare utilization remains low

CAPIZ – The healthcare utilization rate of this province remains low at 17.55 percent even as new cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) are picking up.

The Capiz Provincial Case Bulletin showed 23 of 131 hospital beds are currently in use.

Data also showed that 16.13 percent or 20 of the 124 non-ICU (Intensive Care Unit) beds and 42.86 percent or three out of seven ICU beds are currently in use.

The province recorded zero active COVID-19 cases in previous months but now new cases have started to appear again. As of July 4, Capiz had 15 active cases.

The province’s death toll since the pandemic started in 2020 is now at 521.

Cumulative cases since 2020 is currently at 11,893 and of these, 95.69 percent have recovered.

As to COVID-19 vaccination coverage, the province was able to fully vaccinate 515,992 people or 78.60 percent of the 548, 717 target population.

The Provincial Health Office (PHO) urged the public not to be complacent and continue observing the minimum public health standards – wearing of facemask, hand disinfection and physical distancing./PN
