ILOILO City – Councilor Plaridel Nava has suggested that an ordinance be crafted regulating club/bar bouncers.
According to Nava, the would-be measure should determine the specific jobs and functions of bouncers.
“Who are these people? Why do they exist? What are the rules? Are they the police? Can they respond like this? Can they put the law into their hands? We must define, prescribe the duties of a bouncer,” said Nava.
Councilor Rudolph Ganzon pushed for an investigation following a series of mauling incidents involving bouncers of a club in Mandurriao district.
The establishment was closed on July 12 until July 15 upon the order of Mayor Jerry Treñas, citing the recurrence of said incidents that threaten peace and order.
The city government allowed it to reopen on July 15 after management of the club sign ed an undertaking to ensure peace and order in its premises./PN
