ILOILO City – The Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) passed a resolution urging Mayor Jerry Treñas to hold a transport summit where stakeholders would be presented with the proposed amendments to the Local Public Transport Route Plan (LPTRP).
“Ang transport summit amo ni hopefully ang culmination sang mga public consultations. Mapresentar ta sa mga pumuluyo ang mga suggestions before finalization kag ihatag sa Department of Transportation (DOTr),” said Councilor Sedfrey Cabaluna who introduced the resolution as chairman of the Committee on Transportation.
Treñas, however, is not keen on the summit, pointing out that the city government has been going around making public consultations.
Thus, he said, the call for a transport summit was “a waste of time, a waste of paper and a waste of effort on the part of the City Council.”
“Anyone can just come here. Kun ano kinahanglan mo kadtui lang ako. You don’t have to urge me. We can talk about it,” said Treñas.
With the resolution about the transport summit, the mayor said, “It’s a legislative action now…Ti ako ya masunod na man lang ko. I am the implementing arm of the city. They feel there is a need for a summit? They call for a summit.”/PN
