CALUYA, Antique – Two boats were apprehended for alleged illegal fishing in the waters of Sibato Island and Sibolo Island here on July 27.
The boats were F/B Seth Eser 3 skippered by Gacel Magcalayo and F/B 3 Kings skippered by Rolando Tamayo.
Combined operatives of the Philippine Coast Guard Sub-station Caluya, Coast Guard Intelligence Group – Western Visayas, Caluya municipal police station and Department of Agriculture – Region 6 effected the apprehension.
Seized from F/B Seth Eser 3 were around 30 kilograms of fish with an estimated market value of P8,000 and assorted fishing nets (different sizes) valued at P100,000.
F/B Eser 3 itself was impounded at the Philippine Coast Guard Sub-station Caluya. It was valued at P1 million.
On the other hand, recovered from F/B 3 Kings were around 50 kilograms of fish worth P4,000 and assorted fishing (different sizes) valued at P1 million.
F/B 3 kings was impounded, too. It had an estimated market value P2 million.
The boats’ captains were taken to the Caluya municipal police station.
They could be charged with unauthorized commercial fishing activity and using the prohibited active fishing gears./PN
