BACOLOD City – A security guard died. The motorcycle he was driving slammed into an oncoming tricycle and a Carry van along the Circumferential Road in Bacolod City’s Barangay Alijis early Monday morning.

Louie Vergara was a security guard of the University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos and resident of Barangay Handumanan.

Traffic investigators from Police Station 7 revealed that the tricycle driven by 23-year-old John Alipoon Dayday and the Carry van driven by 42-year-old Warren Blance were both heading south along the circumferential road.

Dayday tried to overtake Blance, causing him to slam into Vergara’s motorcycle which was heading north.

Vergara was thrown from his motorcycle and was run over by Blance’s van. He died instantly.

Both Dayday and Blance surrendered to the police.

Dayday sustained minor injuries from the head-on collision./PN
