MANILA – Ilonggo three-point gunner Peter Gim Traviña will soon shoot the lights out while wearing the blue and white jerseys of St. Clare College of Caloocan Saints.

The Tigbauan, Iloilo native formally accepted to the Saints team on Thursday, according to his trainer Porsche Bernil.

Traviña is the second player of Bernil’s Tigbauan Ninjas to commit to the six-time NAASCU men’s basketball champions after Ilonggo forward Ian Gasacao.

“Peter has been accepted to the St. Clare Saints. The coaching staff there were impressed with his shooting and his defense,” Bernil told Panay News.

“I was informed by coach Jimmy (Manansala) that they intend to lineup both Peter and Ian when they compete in the Milcu tournament next month,” she added.

Traviña was one of the promising shooters in Iloilo. He ruled the JB ABL three-point contest last year and the ODM x Wilson Sports PH 3-Point Shootout just recently.

The 5-foot-8 combo guard was also one of the key players for the Western Institute of Technology before he was recommended to the Saints.

“The coaching staff of St. Clare already saw Peter’s shooting videos last year but he was only able to go to them now because of the pandemic,” Bernil said.

“But, while he is in Tigbauan, he is very religious with his training, he is one of the hardworking players from Tigbauan Ninjas so it is not surprising that he is set to play in Manila,” she added.

Bernil also believes that both Traviña and Gasacao are in good hands with the Saints as she expects her two players to improve their game further under Manansala’s guidance./PN
