BACOLOD City – All public parks in this city should have permanent guards securing them, said Councilor Em Ang, chairperson of the Sangguniang Panlungsod’s (SP) committee on culture, arts and history.
Not all public parks here have guards, making these areas vulnerable to vandals and other lawless elements.
“There is a need to have 24/7 guards in the public parks to ensure that the same are secured all the time,” said Ang.
She introduced an ordinance for this titled “Bacolod Parks Protection Ordinance”. Last week, the city council approved in on third and final reading.
Ang said public parks must also be secured from criminals who may find them strategic to carry out their crimes.
It was learned that the national government, through the Department of Budget and Management, disbursed P10 million to the city government for the beautification of the Bacolod City Public Plaza and P9 million for the rehabilitation of the Bacolod City Rizal Park./PN
