KALIBO, Aklan – The Aklan-wide seven-day average coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) positivity rate dropped to 16.84 percent for the period Aug. 19 to 26.
Aklan recorded a COVID-19 Positivity rate of 27.89 percent for 147 tests from Aug. 11 to 17.
Positivity rate is calculated by taking the number of all positive tests and divided by the total number of tests, and then multiplying it by 100 to get the percentage.
The World Health Organization recommended that test positivity rate should be at five percent or lower for the next 14 days.
Cases are also declining – from 41 for the period Aug. 11 to 17 to 33 new infections for the period Aug. 19 to 26, data from the Aklan Epidemiological and Surveillance Unit showed.
There were 373 confirmed COVID-19 deaths in Aklan since the pandemic began. As of Aug. 26, the province logged 30 active cases, with 12 patients remaining hospitalised.
Batan has the most number of active cases with six, followed by Kalibo with five, Balete and Numancia with three cases each.
Meanwhile, Aklan has step up its “PinasLakas” booster shot vaccinations in workplaces over the coming weeks to minimize the spread of infections./PN
