ILOILO – Construction workers found human bones in a drainage under construction in the public plaza of Oton town here on Wednesday afternoon.
According to Police Major Fernand Limbungan, chief of Oton Police Station, the bones belong to a person who was buried over 70 years ago because of its color and texture.
The town plaza was built during the Spanish era and it was a part of the old Oton church which was destroyed by a strong earthquake in 1948 known as “Lady Caycay.”
“Pagkutkot siguro mga one meter pa lang, nabaw siya katama, pagkita nila wala nila gintandog ginpabalo nila diri. Pag-abot namon to may nakita nga bungo kag mga parte sang tul-an sa lawas. Ginpalagasan namon kutkot, may nakita pa gid isa ka bungo. Ginkuha man namon pero kulang na siya sang parts, te kay duha ang bungo we assumed nga duha ka tao,” said Jose Rito Palmes of the General Services Office of Oton municipal government.
The human bones were later buried at the Oton Public Cemetery./PN
