BACOLOD City – Ten job order employees of the Victorias City government in Negros Occidental tested positive for illegal drug use following a surprise drug test conducted earlier this week.
Mayor Javier Miguel “Javi” Benitez said nine of the employees were found positive for use of shabu while one tested positive for marijuana.
The mayor said the 10 individuals, whose contracts are ending this month, can no longer renew their employment, although they will be given a choice to undergo drug rehabilitation at the city government’s expense.
“We don’t tolerate the use of dangerous drugs in government offices,” he said.
A total of 1,100 were subjected to the surprise drug test, with the mayor himself also participating./PN
