ILOILO – The Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) was able to neutralize 89 drug personalities in eight months of operations, or from January to August of this year.
Police Staff Master Sergeant Francisco Lindero Jr., spokesperson of IPPO, said P6.5 million of suspected shabu was confiscated.
IPPO records also showed that the top 4 towns/city with the highest number of drug
buy-bust operations conducted are the following:
* Top 1 – Pavia, Sta. Barbara and Barotac Viejo with five operations each and a total of seven persons arrested;
* Top 2 – Dumangas and Oton with five operations each and five personalities arrested;
* Top 3 – Pototan with four operations; and
* Top 4 – Passi City, Banate and Tigbauan.
In addition, the five police stations with the highest value of illegal drugs confiscated
included:
* Pototan Municipal Police Station (MPS) – P2,345,894
* Pavia MPS – P1,127,263
* Dumangas MPS – P582,474
* Leganes MPS – P564,400; and
* Santa Barbara MPS – P307,884
IPPO director, Police Colonel Adrian Acollador, said the drug accomplishments showed the aggressive drug war in the police station level.
“We have to strengthen the fight in the police station level because early detection of illegal drug activities is important in addressing the problem the soonest,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Iloilo top cop enjoined the public to stay vigilant against drug personalities and immediately report to the police any illegal drug activity in their respective areas.
“It’s ‘ber’ months, and the long Yuletide celebration is usually taken advantage of by
illegal drug traders. We have to step up our efforts to prevent them,” Acollador said./PN
