ROXAS City – A suspected high-value communist personality in Capiz province was arrested here.
Lenilyn Jaynos, a non-government organization (NGO) worker, was tagged as the regional finance officer of the New People’s Army’s Komiteng Rehiyon-Panay.
Philippine National Police (PNP) chief General Rodolfo Azurin Jr. said Jaynos was arrested on Sept. 2 during a search warrant operation for alleged violation of Republic Act (RA) 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act) and RA 9516 (illegal possession of explosives).
Police seized several firearms, ammunition, hand grenade, black sling bag, and two identification cards.
Two companions of the suspect managed to flee and are now subjects of a manhunt.
“This operation became successful through the cooperation and support of the community through our KASIMBAYANAN program. This can only be achieved if we actively participate in our quest to curb criminality,” Azurin said in a statement yesterday. (With a report from PNA)/PN
