4 arrested for ‘stealing’ gasoline at Cauayan cell site

BACOLOD City – Four persons were arrested for allegedly stealing gasoline from a generator set at a cell site in Cauayan, Negros Occidental early yesterday morning.

The suspects were 38-year-old Rommel Negre; 41-year-old Emilio Lumantad; 39-year-old Rogelio Pendon; and 30-year-old Rosine Marie Tentiya, all residents of Bacolod City.

The Cauayan police station received a call shortly after midnight from a concerned citizen about several individuals that barged into a cell site owned by Smart Communications.

Responding policemen caught four men siphoning fuel from the generator set and loading it into a container on a waiting pickup truck.

Police recovered a bolt cutter, a hacksaw, 15 empty containers, one container filled with the alleged stolen fuel, and two homemade shotguns with seven live rounds.

The suspects face charges for robbery and illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.
