BACOLOD City – A total of 133 suspects were arrested in a day of simultaneous operation targeting illegal gambling activities in Negros Occidental yesterday.
Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOCPPO) spokesperson Police Lieutenant Judesses Catalogo said among those arrested in 34 operations were 132 bettors and a gambling operator.
Tong-its was the most prevalent illegal gambling subjected to 18 police operations, followed by bookies for Small Town Lottery (STL) with eight operations, and eight more operations against other forms of illegal gambling.
The operation was conducted following the mobilization of 31 city and municipal police stations, two provincial mobile force companies, and the Provincial Intelligence Unit of the NOCPPO in cooperation with the Barangay Intelligence Network (BIN).
Bago and Victorias city police stations were the top performers, with four operations each.
The one-day simultaneous operation is part of the Malasakit, Kaayusan, Kapayapaan Tungo sa Kaunlaran, or M+K+K=K, the peace and security framework of Philippine National Police chief General Rodolfo Azurin Jr.’s./PN
