ILOILO – A robbery in Barangay Pasig, Lambunao town on Thursday afternoon, Sept. 15, left a delivery truck driver dead and his two companions wounded.
The fatality, Jerry Faldas, was a 44-year-old resident of Fort San Pedro, Iloilo City. His two wounded companions were Elbert Mardoquio, 37, of Barangay Inaladan, Cabatuan, Iloilo and Jeriel Nalangan, 35, of Barangay Libot, Calinog, Iloilo.
Faldas sustained gunshot wounds to the chest and right portion of his head, according to Police Corporal Risan Larroza, investigator on case of the Lambunao Municipal Police Station.
On the other hand, Mardoquio had a gunshot wound on his left lung and suffered a severe back injury while Nalangan sustained multiple gunshot wounds on his left arm, shoulder, and left side of the head.
Lambunao police chief, Police Major Jogen F. Suegay, said the truck was from the town’s Barangay Jayubo traversing to the town proper when they were stopped by unidentified gunmen in Barangay Pasig.
The robbers carted away an estimated P591,000 in cash.
Two empty shells of 12 gauge shotgun were recovered at the crime scene.
“Sa subong may ginasundan kita nga lead sa mga persons of interest pero sige pa gid gyapon ang investigation para mas mapabaskug ang evidence naton kag matumod kun sin-o gid ang may kahimuan,” said Suegay./PN
