WV’s first monkeypox case already out of hospital

ILOILO City – The fourth monkeypox case in the country, who is also Western Visayas’ first, was discharged from the hospital on Sept. 15.

A resident of Iloilo province, the patient has 20 close contacts; 19 already completed their quarantine and all have not developed any symptoms of the disease.

Meantime, the other one – a relative who assisted the patient at the hospital – has just started her quarantine on Sept. 15 after the patient was discharged.

Though already discharged, the patient will continue isolating at home until all his scabs fall off.

“He is continuing isolation doon sa kanilang bahay…titingnan hanggang 21st day and as to be certified also by his physician,” said Vergeire.

Meanwhile, the country’s third monkeypox case has “fully recovered” from the disease.

Vergiere said the 29-year-old patient completed the isolation period at home. The patient was issued with a clearance certificate on Sept. 8.
