I’M A fundraiser.
I raise money for the poor.
I raise money for just causes.
I raise money for other people.
I may use my money to raise funds, but I will not use my own money for other people’s causes.
***
Which is to say, I will use my money to host parties.
To create and organize events.
To get people and donors together.
To invite and dine contributors.
And people who I think can help the cause.
***
In the last six weeks since I arrived in Iloilo, I have been approached by a lot of solicitations.
And God forbid that I give money to some of these.
Because once the word gets out, people will always come to me asking for anything and everything from coffee money to a college scholarship.
And that’s not the help that I have in mind.
***
I will never tire of saying this: Because my candidates lost in the last elections, people should stop going to me for help.
Instead, they should go to the politicians who promised them the heavens… and unity!

Poverty sucks in the Philippines.
I guess anywhere else in the world, too.
But more so in the Philippines.
Still, if people want to be f*cked in the ass, that’s their unalienable right.
And so are their kabobohan and katangahan.
Let the Budol Gang enjoy the spoils of their victory.
Let the miserable poor die.

Before coming to the Philippines, I have started the fundraising for the 2022 Peter’s Prize Summit.
But since my event would still be in October, I slowed down a little bit.

In late August, a close friend died.
I’m not really sure about his finances.
But he would often intimate to me about the financial burdens of his twice weekly dialysis.
And from the looks of it, $100 weekly would already be a big thing for him.
When he passed away, I raised some funds for him via Facebook.
I was able to raise some P18,000 (P13,000 + $100).
I feel good about that.
***
I also got a solicitation letter for a college student’s participation in some conference abroad.
Like Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in October.
I like the student very much.
I want to support him.
So, I told him, since you are representing your school, your town, your congressional district, your province, your region, you should start hitting your college, your mayor, your congressional representative, and your governor for solicitations.
I promised to take him to these solicitation trips (car and gasoline on me!).
And because he was also a popular campus leader, I advised him to raise funds through his social network.
I never heard from him again.

This morning, I saw three gorgeous boys with beautiful butts, nice legs, big… calves.
They are long distance bikers.
They said Hi; I said, Good morning.
And then, they gave me three solicitation letters asking to help pay for their trip, and participation, in some biking event in Bacolod.
Bongga, di ba?
My gay friend said that I should have given each of them P100, and maybe I’ll even have a date with all of them one at a time.
Obviously, my gay friend has been doing this a lot. Haha!
***
But I said No.
Instead, I advised them to go ask for funding help from the Municipal Youth and Sports Development Council.
Or again, from their congressional representative who is supposed to help his constituents from his pork barrel.

The Peter Solis Nery Foundation is a literary and art foundation.
Of course, I want to support boys in sports!
But do I want to use my own money to spend for their fun trips? No!
And I’m not giving P100 to each boy soliciting from me.
That would be too cheap.
Why give P100 when I can afford to give P10,000?/PN
