BACOLOD City – Police have already identified the beheaded man found in Sagrado 2, Zone 16, Talisay City, Negros Occidental last Saturday, Sept. 17.
Talisay City police chief, Police Lt. Colonel Arthur Baybayan, said victim Mario Demetrio, 48, a resident of Purok Sigay Magsungay, Barangay Singcang-Airport, Bacolod City, was positively identified by his mother.
Talisay City police, however, have yet to identify who were responsible for Demetrio’s beheading, although a background check of the victim later revealed that he was the pimp of the 26-year-old commercial sex worker who was found dead last September 8 in Barangay Alijis.
Police Station 7 commander, Police Capt. Elmer Bonilla, said they confirmed that Demetrio was the pimp they were looking for following the sex worker’s murder.
According to Bonilla, following the murder in Alijis, Demetrio no longer appeared in the city’s Goldenfields Commercial Complex.
He said it is possible that Demetrio knew the clients of the commercial sex worker and there is a big possibility that the two murders may be connected.
Police Station 7 and the Talisay City Police Station are now conducting a joint investigation over the two murders.
To recall, Police Lt. Marion Vicente Buenaflor, deputy police chief of Talisay City Police Station, said Demetrio’s head was found in the middle of the road with a gunshot wound, while his body was found a few meters away beside the roadside, hogtied and had bruises on the chest./PN
