2 college students stabbed in Arevalo

ILOILO City – Two students from a university here were wounded following a stabbing incident at around 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday in Brgy. Sto. Niño Sur, Arevalo district.

Bill John Billiones, 20, a resident of Brgy. Lanas, Barotac Nuevo, Iloilo, and Glemar Lacandula, 20, of Trachiano, Dumarao, Capiz, were brought to the West Visayas State University Medical Center. They both sustained stab wounds on the stomach and now in stable condition.

According to Police Master Sergeant Randy Flores, the suspect identified as Harold Masculino, 28, of Brgy. Pakiad, Oton, was believed to be under the influence of intoxicating liquor.

Police investigation revealed that while the victims were waiting for a jeepney to ride, they saw their female friend arguing with an unknown group of women.

The victims went to their friend but the suspect suddenly stabbed Lacandula using a knife.

Billiones was about to help Glemar and stop Harold, but he was also stabbed by the suspect, police said.

The suspect is now in the custody of the Arevalo Police Station and will be charged with frustrated homicide./PN
