BACOLOD City – Negros Occidental governor Eugenio Jose Lacson yesterday issued an executive order (EO) adopting the “Buy Local, Go Lokal” campaign.

Lacson is currently in Makati City leading the Negros Trade Fair at the Glorietta II.

In his EO, the governor cited the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has launched a nationwide campaign “Buy Local, Go Lokal” which aims to help micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) severely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic weather the storm and create opportunities for their recovery and growth.

The “Buy Local, Go Lokal” campaign also aims to encourage Filipinos to shift their buying patterns towards Philippine-made produce.

Lacson emphasized the campaign will also stimulate domestic travel because it encourages Filipinos to patronize Philippine-owned and -operated facilities and services, too.

Local producers, particularly the Association of Negros Producers (ANP), and other industry sectoral groups, are developing and promoting quality products while local government units (LGUs) are supporting promotional activities such as the Negros Trade Fair.

Lacson is encouraging the province’s 31 cities and municipalities to also adopt the same campaign./PN
