BACOLOD City – The city government allotted funds for barangays participating in the street and arena dance competition and the Electric MassKara of the MassKara Festival 2022.
On Wednesday, the Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) approved the Memorandum of Agreements (MOA) granting the said financial aid.
The city government will provide each contingent in the street and arena dance competition with P200,000, while P150,000 for each contingent in the Electric MassKara.
Earlier, festival’s organizer, Bacolod Yuhum Foundation Inc. (BYFI), also financed each participating barangay for the street and arena dance competition and the Electric MassKara participants with P300,000 and P50,000, respectively.
Councilor Jason Villarosa, chair of the SP committee on tourism, said the total subsidy received by each contingent is P500,000 for the street and arena dance competition, and P200,000 for each Electric MassKara contingent.
Fifteen barangays from the list of the BYFI will participate in the Electric MassKara, but only 13 have submitted their intent letter.
The intent letter is one of the requirements of the city government to grant the contingent financial aid.
The participating barangays for the street and arena dance competition are barangays 7, 12, 14, 22, 26, 27, 31, 34, 35, 40, Singcang-Airport, Alijis, Granada, Alangilan, Estefania, Sum-ag, and Tangub.
Those that will compete for the Electric MassKara are barangays 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 16, 17, 20, 23, 25, 29, 32, and 39.
The street and arena dance competition will be held on Oct. 23 while the Electric MassKara is on Oct. 22./PN
