THE Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) said that it was helping micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) digitalize.
When asked if the DTI was prioritizing select localities for the digitalization of MSMEs, DTI Undersecretary Ruth Castelo said, “We treat all regions equally. Kaya nga lang, syempre, ‘yung mas developed na like Metro Cebu and Metro Davao, tinutulungan natin na mapaganda pa ng mga MSME ‘yung kanilang pagpasok sa digitalization.”
In line with this, the DTI called on the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) to improve internet connections, especially in isolated areas, to facilitate digitalization.
Castelo said digitalization would help cut the expenses of MSMEs. For example, MSMEs may switch to online stores instead of paying rent for physical stores.
The DTI in August said it was working on partnerships with various organizations and companies, such as Mastercard, Investree, First Circle Inc., Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants, to support the financial digitalization of MSMEs. (GMA News)
