MANILA – Converge FiberXers is looking to bolster its roster. It is in talks to acquire the services Jerrick Balanza and Kevin Ferrer from NorthPort Batang Pier.
According to various reports, the FiberXers are ready to part ways with rookie center Tyrus Hill and guard Allyn Bulanadi to get the two Batang Pier veterans.
Panay News learned from sources that the Batang Pier is still closely examining the trade proposal send by the FiberXers on Thursday.
If both teams come to terms, FiberXers head coach Aldin Ayo will reunite with a former ward in Balanza, whom the former handled during his time as Colegio de San Juan de Letran Knights head coach.
Balanza, a one-time PBA champion during his time with Barangay Ginebra San Miguel Kings, averaged 8.5 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 2.0 assists with the Batang Pier this Commissioner’s Cup.
Ferrer, on the other hand, will also add scoring punch in the FiberXers’ wing position after losing his playing minutes to Batang Pier newcomer Arvin Tolentino.
The Batang Pier, on the other hand, can get two prospects to its lineup if they agree to acquire Hill and former Gilas Pilipinas player Bulanadi from Converge.
Hill, who is headed to his third team in his rookie year after being draftes by NLEX Road Warriors and being swapped to Converge, is stand for heavy minutes in the shorthanded Batang Pier frontline.
The former De La Salle University Green Archers high-flier was not part of Ayo’s rotation as he was not inserted in Converge’s 124-110 win over Terrafirma Dyip last Friday.
The 25-year-old Bulanadi is also expected for lengthier playing time with the Batang Pier after being held to four points, three rebounds and two assists in FiberXers conference debut./PN
