ILOILO City – Two entries from this southern city are finalists for two national awards.

The I-Bike, a program promoting a bike culture, is in the running for the prestigious Galing Pook Awards.

Anchored on the theme, “Padayon para sa Ligtas, Matalino at Matatag na Pamayanan”, the 2022 Galing Pook Awards recognizes local government units’ most adaptive and innovative programs.

In 2018, the Iloilo-Batiano River Development Project won the Galing Pook Award.

Iloilo City’s Dinagyang Festival also made it to the final list in the search for the Best Tourism Event of 2022 by the Association of Tourism Officers of the Philippines (ATOP).

According to Mayor Jerry Treñas, Atty. Joebert Peñaflorida represented the city government and Iloilo Festivals Foundation Inc. during the final panel interview of ATOP’s search for Best Tourism Event.

Last year, ATOP also hailed the 2021 Dinagyang Digital as the country’s best tourism practice during the COVID-19 pandemic and declared it the grand winner of its Pearl Awards./PN
