Housing

IN ILOILO City, Bacolod City and Roxas City, socialized housing units will be constructed for the homeless and those living in danger zones and needing relocation. The Department of Human Settlements and Urban Department (DHSUD) is supporting the local governments of these areas realize their pro-poor housing projects.

For the past several decades, the lack of decent housing remains an issue that warrants government attention because majority of Filipinos cannot afford to have his or her own house.  The country needed a more integrated approach in addressing housing needs.

The DHSUD, created just during the previous Duterte administration, will hopefully make the government better address urbanization and its challenges with greater efficiency, and capacitate local government units to effectively respond to the growing needs of urban and rural poor dwellers.

We ought to invest properly and strategically. Construction and housing are the key engines of job creation in the country yet it sorely lacks attention.

DSHUD aims to address the country’s housing needs and other related issues through an efficient and holistic national shelter program. It is tasked to shepherd a more coordinated housing effort. It is the primary national government entity responsible for the management of housing and urban development.

DSHUD in fact merges the functions of the previous Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council and the planning and regulatory functions of the previous Housing and Land Use Regulatory Board.

Now, DSHUD is at the forefront of the effort to assist in providing homes for our people. The cities of Iloilo, Bacolod and Roxas are lucky to be included in the housing program of the national government, and DSHUD will be there to assist them.

Let us help millions of Filipinos find, keep and live in affordable and permanent housing.
