BACOLOD City – The opening program for the “1st MassKara sa Panaad” event on Monday, Oct. 10, was officially revealed yesterday.
A Thanksgiving Mass would be held at the Panaad Stadium at 4 p.m. on Monday, a copy of the schedule released by the Negros Occidental’s public information office showed.
After the mass, a “Parade of Festivals” will mark the beginning of festivities.
A street dance showcase will be held during the parade from the park’s Balay Kalamay up to the Panaad Park stage.
It would be followed by the presentation of colors and local government unit banners.
Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson will give a message, followed by Bacolod City mayor Alfredo “Albee” Benitez during the opening ceremonies.
Among the performances expected for the opening salvo are the Local Government Unit Festival Dances, Ritmo Verde Drumbeaters, and a presentation by the Poseidon Dance Theater.
Earlier on Oct. 5, provincial administrator Atty. Rayfrando Diaz said they will give all Bacolodnons, Negrenses, and visiting tourists a good show.
Diaz said all 31 towns and cities in Negros Occidental, including Bacolod City, will be opening their respective pavilions showcasing the best they can offer.
Diaz also said all congressional districts will showcase the festival dances of their respective towns and cities, and celebrities from Manila will be holding shows at the park.
A food festival showcasing the towns’ and cities’ delicacies and culinary arts will also be held.
The 1st MassKara sa Panaad event will run from October 10 to 16 at the Panaad Park and Stadium in Bacolod City’s Barangay Mansilingan./PN
