ILOILO City – Western Visayas’ top cop has expressed disappointment and dissatisfaction with the progress of the almost a month of investigation into the killing of three young businessmen in Estancia, Iloilo.

According to Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) director, Police Brigadier General Leo Francisco, he plans to go to Estancia to monitor the ongoing probe.

Business pals Jan Paul Mark Bosque, Mark Clarenz Libao and Chrysler Floyd Fernandes were shot to death on Sept. 14.

Nababagalan talaga ako sa imbestigasyon. I’m planning to go to Estancia para ako mismo ang magtatanong,” said Francisco.

He also ordered the relief of Police Lieutenant Jobert Amado, chief of the Estancia Municipal Police Station.

On the other hand, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Region 6 said it would not provide the special investigation task group (SITG) Palibosfer of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) with copies of the eight affidavits that the bureau managed to secure.

The NBI is conducting a parallel investigation on the killings. The families of the three victims sought its help.

According to Police Senior Master Sergeant Francisco Lindero Jr., public information officer of the IPPO and SITG Palibosfer spokesperson, the NBI-6 declined their request to have copies of the affidavits. He said it is the policy of NBI-6 not to share affidavits when its investigation has not yet concluded and no charges have yet been filed.

The NBI-6 has so far secured eight affidavits from the families of Bosque, Fernandes and Libao; four witnesses; and Bosque’s fiancée.

Also, it has already established a motive in the killing of the victims. According to NBI-6 assistant regional director Atty. Jeremiah Sargado, they have evidence to support it.

Siguro enough naman ini agud magkumiter sang krimen ang suspek,” Sargado said.

The NBI, however, is not yet sure when a complaint would be filed.

Jevron Parohinog, the lone survivor in the Estancia killings, told the police he and the three fatalities were onboard a white Isuzu MUX when attacked by motorcycle-riding gunmen around 12:30 a.m. on Sept. 14 in Barangay Pani-an, Estancia.

Bosque owned the vehicle but Parohinog was driving it.

Parohinog, who is still in the custody of the Estancia police station, is considered at this time as both a witness and a person of interest./PN
