ILOILO City – The Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) arrested 20 wanted persons and 59 people for illegal gambling in one week across Western Visayas.
PRO-6 records showed that from Oct. 3 to 9, police stations across the region had served 27 arrest warrants which resulted to the apprehension of 17 people facing heinous crimes and another three facing lesser offenses.
In the campaign against illegal gambling, 59 were arrested in 18 operations.
Also, around P10,130 of illegal gambling bet money was seized.
Of the 59, eight were nabbed for tong-its, three for pusoy, two each for mahjong and cockfighting, and one each for cara y cruz and unauthorized Small Town Lottery.
PRO-6 director, Police Brigadier General Leo Francisco, congratulated his men for the success of the week-long operation.
“Ipagpatuloy natin ang ating ginagawa at we have to review all lists of wanted persons and continue our operations against illegal gambling,” he said./PN
