What I ate

BY NOW, my food journaling has gone to crazy, neurotic levels.

Even at social events where they serve hors d’oeuvre, I gather everything I want to eat on a plate, and photograph them.

Sometimes, photographing is easy; sometimes, I take a couple of minutes as I also want to capture a perfect photo.

If it ain’t pretty, it’s not getting into my tummy!

Running joke of some of my most familiar friends: They’re finished eating before I finish my photography.

Only a little part of it is a joke; the greater part is the truth.

Not a few people have been asking how to be brilliant like me.

Or healthy looking, if not outrightly healthy.

I say, it’s also in everything that I eat.

Here’s a sampling of my food journal/ diary.

October 1:

Banana, and lomi.

Watermelon.

Bangus inasal, and mango.

Hopia, and chocolate crinkles, with more coffee.

One meal: Batchoy.

October 3:

Spanish roll, and chocolate crinkles, with coffee.

Tinolang manok.

Crabs.

Alimusan adobado, fried fish, and rice.

21hr 55min fasting.

October 4:

Ensaymada, and strawberry smoothie.

Pancit canton.

Kikiro in sour soup.

20hr 1mn fasting.

October 5:

Shrimp, hotdog, tomatoes, rice.

Bread toast, with coffee.

Nachos.

13hr 1min fasting.

October 6:

Hotdog, fried fish, ibus with brown sugar.

KBL soup.

Spaghetti, and bread.

21 hr fasting.

October 7:

Laswa, alogbate with carne.

Tinolang manok.

Noodles with patola, and fried fish.

17hr 29min fasting.

October 8:

Salisbury steak, rice, and ensaymada.

Dinuguan, rice, caldereta.

Carbonara, callos, garden salad.

14hr 33min fasting.

October 9:

Fish soup, shrimp, rice.

Single-double.

Fried fish, broiled fish, crabs, fish in vegetable soup.

10hr 48min fasting.

October 10:

Valenciana rice, sotanghon guisado,  shrimp, crab, fried chicken.

Sotanghon (repeat), shrimp, chicken adobo, buko salad.

18hr 22min fasting.

October 11:

Kangkong adobo, laswa, rice.

Buko salad.

Lomi, and nachos.

Fried chicken, lechon kawali, rice.

17hr 6min fasting.

October 12:

Squid adobo, pinakbet, takway adobo.

Assorted bread: pandan bar, ube bar, half moon, chocolate crinkle.

Fried chicken feet, carbonara.

19hr 14min fasting.

October 13:

Crabs, rice.

Bangsilog, ginatan.

Assorted JD pastry.

17hr 12min fasting.

October 14:

Talaba.

Halo-buko.

Calamari, fried chicken skin.

Rotisserie chicken, pork adobo, rice.

20hr 13min fasting.

October 15:

Chicken inasal, pineapple juice.

Papaya, assorted Felicia’s pastry with coffee.

Spaghetti, pizza, assorted pastries including napoleones.

Pizza, kikiam, cheese sticks.

16hr 19min fasting.

So yeah, when no rice is mentioned, no rice is eaten.

I say again, rice is poor people.

Rich people can afford more viands./PN
