GUIMARAS – In accordance with the province’s land management program, the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO) here on Monday, Oct. 24, awarded two Original Certificates of Title to the municipality of Buenavista.
Lot Nos. 1999-C and 1999-E, which have a combined area of 35,997 square meters and are located in Sitio Kalalan, Barangay Pia of the aforementioned town, have been given a special patent for sanitary landfill.
Pursuant to Republic Act 10023, also known as the Residential Free Patent Act, a collaboration between DENR, the local government unit of Buenavista, and the Registry of Deeds expedited the issuing process and strengthened the agency’s linkages.
The special patents were awarded to address solid waste disposal – ensuring proper segregation, collection, transport, storage, treatment, and disposal through the formulation and adoption of best environmental practices in ecological waste as per RA 9003, or the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000, in ensuring the protection of public health and the environment. /PN
