ILOILO City – Live-in partners attempted to commit suicide in Barangay Sinikway, Lapuz district around 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 8.

The 22-year-old woman was a resident of Tapaz, Capiz while her 25-year-old live-in partner was a native of Pilar, Capiz.

According to punong barangay Corazon Coo of Sinikway, the couple have been staying at their rented room in a boardinghouse in the barangay for almost a year now, but they have several records and blotter reports due to misunderstandings and fights.

“Indi na sila taga diri gid sa barangay. Bale ang babaye na taga-Tapaz kag ang lalaki taga-Pilar, puro tanan taga-Capiz kag naga-board lang na di sila. Damo naman na gani sila record kag blotter diri sa barangay kada away nila,” said Coo.

Kagawad Francis Longno, meanwhile, said the man drank three mugs of mixed powder on insecticide while the woman drank only one mug.

Currently, the couple are still being treated at the Western Visayas Medical Center (WVMC) in Mandurriao district.

Meanwhile, mental health concerns are often stigmatized, and people often don’t get the mental health services they need.
