BACOLOD City – Negros Occidental acting governor, Vice Gov. Jeffrey Ferrer, said he is in favor of placing the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) under the Office of the President.
According to Ferrer, having the NDRRMC under the control of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. would expedite decision-making and its operations during times of calamity where time is crucial.
He is also confident that the President is capable of manning the NDRRMC, just as he is currently holding the Department of Agriculture.
The proposal to place the NDRRMC under the Office of the President surfaced during Marcos’ visit to Tacloban City to lead the ninth anniversary commemoration of Super Typhoon “Yolanda”./PN
