DUE TO Severe Tropical Storm “Paeng”, coffee talkers missed some mornings huddling and discussing the hottest issues of the day.
But now they’re back!

“The national and local governments are now busy helping storm victims. Relief boxes from the Department of Social Welfare and Development are being distributed. These may contain rice, noodles and sardines as usual,” said the golfer.
“But what will the people do with the uncooked rice and noodles? Their homes have been devastated,” he added.

“Every city, town and province must have a budget for mobile kitchen vehicles to be where food is much needed. Ready meals are vital, not uncooked rice or noodles,” added the retired teacher.

“I could not fathom why our leaders are failing on this concern. We do not even see parishes sharing a moment or effort in leading the distribution of much needed food and water,” noted a broadcaster sipping his cappuccino. “The most important is for the victims to have ready food,” he added.

“A mobile kitchen unit is a medium-sized truck with cooking facilities within that could cook fresh food like arroz caldo or rice and adobo and vegetable recipes, and with water tanks for people to drink potable water.

Looking at the retired teacher, the golfer said, “Amigo, another thing I could not understand is our education agency. In public schools, parents, guardians and even lola or lolo are out there along the sidewalks of the school perimeter bearing the heat of the sun or dripping with drops of rain waiting for their school children to come out for lunch break or so.”

“Schools must have waiting areas for parents and guardians. They should not be treated like third-class people on earth,” stressed the engineer./PN
