BACOLOD City – The Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) is urging the City Treasurer’s Office (CTO) to inspect weighing scales in public markets to prevent unfair and deceptive sales practices.
The SP, in a resolution, also pushed for the recalibration and sealing of weighing scales and measuring instruments used in public markets.
According to Councilor Claudio Jesus Puentevella, the proponent of the resolution, the objective is to protect the public against unfair and deceptive sales practices.
He cited Republic Act No. 7394, or the Consumer Act of the Philippines, which identifies the rights of consumers and protects them from trade malpractices./PN
