ILOILO City – A 62-year-old foreign national was found dead inside his rented room in Zone 2, Brgy. San Juan, Molo district around 10:05 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 13.
The victim was identified as Oscar Monterosa, an American citizen and, based on his drivers’ license, a resident of San Jose, Dingle, Iloilo.
Monterosa’s body was found lying on the floor next to his bed without any clothes on by caretaker Alex Embro.
Molo police investigation revealed that there was no sign that the victim was murdered; there were no injuries or wounds on his body.
The victim’s two cellphones and money were found on the bed, thus the police ruled out robbery as a motive.
According to the caretaker, the housekeepers noticed that the victim has not come out of his room and they decided to check on him.
It is known that Monterosa, alleged to have been abandoned by his Filipina wife, was unemployed and has not paid his rent for more than four months, and the owner of the building only gives him food.
Molo police is still investigating the incident./PN
