BACOLOD City – Nine persons were caught for alleged illegal cockfighting in Barangay Taloc, Bago City, Negros Occidental past noon on Sunday, Nov. 13.
The suspects were Allan Benitez, Elmer Santillan, Ronmark Boncalon, Nelson Conato, Joemil Villar, Valeriano Alpabete, Franco Peruelo, Esmael Dulaca, and Jayme Dulaca, all residents of the said place.
Bago city police said they were conducting an operation on all illegal gambling activities in the area when they caught the men.
Police recovered five fighting cocks, P1,250 in bet money, gaffs, and gambling paraphernalia.
The suspects were taken into custody by the Bago City Police Station. They are facing charges for violation of Presidential Decree 449./PN
