BACOLOD City – A scheduled 12-hour power interruption will be experienced in several barangays of this city and portions of Murcia, Negros Occidental on Saturday, Nov. 19.
The outage is due to maintenance activities of the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) from 6 a.m. until 6 p.m.
The affected areas are under the coverage of Central Negros Electric Cooperative (Ceneco).
The electric cooperative shall take advantage of this downtime to conduct simultaneous maintenance activities as well, said Ceneco acting general manager Ervin Stan Leo Ticar.
NGCP will shut down Ceneco’s Bacolod-Alijis 69-kilovolt (kV) transmission line, affecting its Alijis and Murcia substations.
Portions of Murcia town and barangays Mansilingan, Alijis, Taculing, Vista Alegre, Felisa, and Singcang-Airport in Bacolod City will be affected, Ticar said.
Meanwhile, Ceneco announced the rate for this month’s billing at P16.2972 per kilowatt-hour (/kwh) — an increase of P0.8635/kWh from the October 2022 rate of P15.4337/kWh.
The rate hike is due to the following:
* Palm Concepcion Power Corporation (PCPC) rate raise from P10.5764 to P10.9335
* An increase in fuel prices and the average wholesale electricity spot market (WESM) price from P9.3543 to P10.2527 as they resumed collection of congestion and other applicable charges on Oct. 2, 2022, as a result of the restoration and energization of the transmission line between Cebu and Negros./PN
