ILOILO City – Consumers in this southern city should be smart users of electricity.
MORE Electric and Power Corporation (MORE Power) announced yesterday there will be a P2.1842 per kilowatt-hour (kWh) increase in electricity rate due to an increase in the generation charge.
With the increase, the rate will be P14.66/kWh.
The increase will take effect in the next billing period.
“MORE Power advises consumers to be smart in their electric power consumption to minimize their electricity bills,” the city’s sole power distributor said in a statement.
This is the second time the power firm is increasing its rate.
The first hike of P3.34/kWh was added to the September billing or from P9.14/kWh to P12.48/kWh.
According to MORE Power, the pass-through charges from generation and transmission are paid to the power suppliers and the grid operator, respectively, while taxes and universal charges are all remitted to the government.
However, the distribution, supply and metering charges remain unchanged, stressed MORE
Power.
It also assured consumers it is looking for alternative power sources to bring down the rate./PN
