BACOLOD City – The City Treasurer’s Office (CTO) – Land Tax Division (LTD) is offering a 20 percent discount for advance payment on the real property tax (RPT) for year 2023.
The Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) committee on finance and appropriations chairperson, Councilor Thaddeus Sayson, informed real property taxpayers that the LTD is now accepting advance payments until Dec. 31, 2022.
He encouraged taxpayers to pay in advance so they could avail themselves of the discount.
Aside from the usual office hours, the LTD will also accept payments on Saturdays (Dec. 3, 10 and 17) and holidays (Dec. 8 and 30) from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Meanwhile, a proposed ordinance granting tax relief to delinquent RPT is awaiting approval on its second reading by the city council.
Councilor Al Victor Espino, the proponent, said due to the impact of the pandemic, the city expects a shortfall in tax collection, which may be compensated by encouraging taxpayers to pay their RPT without the additional burden of penalties and surcharges.
The chair of the city council committee on laws and ordinances also said city government can ease the burden of taxpayers via tax relief measures on delinquent real property taxes through the condonation of penalties, interests and surcharges./PN
